Shari R. Rhode

Shari Rhode is an owner/partner of Rhode & Jackson located in Carbondale, IL. Ms. Rhode has more than 27 years’ legal experience, during which she has concentrated in employment law and litigation. She has litigated numerous sexual harassment and ADA claims and currently counsels and provides legal services to both corporations and individual business owners regarding policies on how to prevent and defend discrimination suits. Ms. Rhode has more than 20 years’ experience as Chief Trial Attorney for Southern Illinois University and also serves as an Associate Professor at SIU School of Law, teaching courses in Trial Advocacy, Pretrial Advocacy and Advanced Trial Advocacy/Advanced Evidence.

Ms. Rhode received her J.D., from Southern Illinois University and an LL.M.., in Litigation from Emory University. She is licensed to practice in Illinois, Georgia and Missouri. She is an active member of the Illinois State Bar Association, including four years of service on its Board of Governors. She has been an active member of National Association of College and University Attorneys since 1976, including service as co-chair of the Litigation and Alternate Dispute Resolution Section. Ms. Rhode currently is a member of the NACUAlerts Editorial Board and frequently speaks nationally on employment and discrimination issues.

Martine Jackson

Martine Jackson is the managing partner of Rhode & Jackson located in Carbondale, IL. Ms. Jackson provides counsel and litigation services to both public and private institutions and businesses. She primarily provides legal counsel and services pertinent to Physicians and Medical Practices and the business decisions they face daily. In addition, she counsels businesses on issues pertinent to all phases of the employment relationship, from hiring to firing.

Ms. Jackson received her combined JD/MBA degree from Southern Illinois University. She has earned certificates in Mediation and Conflict Management in the Workplace from DePaul University. Ms. Jackson is an active member of the Illinois State Bar Association and the National Association of College and University Attorneys. Since 1999, Ms. Jackson has served as a member of the Illinois Secretary of State’s Business Corporation Advisory Committee. Ms. Jackson’s business background gives her a unique ability to counsel and advise business owners on the issues they face daily.

Kristen Glasford

Kristen Glasford is an associate attorney of the firm she provides counsel and litigation services to clients of the firm. Ms. Glasford received her J.D. from Southern Illinois University, and is licensed to practice in Illinois. She is an active member of both the American Bar Association and the Illinois Bar Association. Prior to attending law school, Ms. Glasford served as an Adult Probation Officer for the First Judicial Circuit serving both Jackson and Williamson County for five years.

New Associates

Our firm is committed to the principal of developing a mentor relationship with current law students as well as recent graduates. To that end we strive to work closely with SIU School of Law and its students to provide hands on, relevant legal experiences as a part of the educational experience.

Staffing Philosophy

Rhode & Jackson, will designate one attorney to have primary responsibility for each case/matter on which the firm’s services are requested. The case/matter will be staffed economically and effectively. The firm will strive to achieve a balance between the efficiency a more experienced lawyer brings to a given task and the advantages of having the task performed by an associate or paralegal. Any duplication of effort is discouraged and avoided when at all possible.
